When Should E-Commerce Sites Create a New Page?

Robin Allenson

As your business grows, your website should evolve along with it. Creating new pages for your e-commerce site can drive better search visibility, improve user experience, and boost sales—but only if done strategically. So, when exactly should you add a new page?

Here are three essential scenarios when creating a new page can make a big impact:

1. New Category Pages

If there are categories for which you have unique & relevant products and fit your customer’s search journey, but you don’t have a page for that today — maybe you should add one. A dedicated page helps spotlight your products from a specific angle, making them easier for visitors to find and search engines to rank.

2. Campaign-Specific Landing Pages

For marketing campaigns or events, a focused landing page with tailored messaging and clear calls-to-action improves conversion rates.

3. When Data Says It’s Time

Dive into your analytics. If your site already ranks for topics, but it’s only product pages that rank, it might be time to address those gaps with a dedicated category page.

Pro Tip: Not every topic needs a new page. Use internal linking, filters or other on-page content to guide users to existing pages instead of overwhelming them with options.
